Our customers demand the highest quality parts which is why nothing is more important to us than your parts quality. Once an order is procured our planning, purchasing, production, and quality departments are all involved in the creation of an accurate route sheet. A team approach ensures all aspects of manufacturing are covered. Once on the shop floor your parts will be inspected by both operators and roaming inspectors from our quality department whose sole purpose is to ensure parts are to print at the source. However before production begins a first article is done to qualify the parts before production. After machining your parts may need plating in which case we carefully package the parts and ship them to a very select group of qualified vendors. Upon return from the vendors your parts will be inspected again. Finally a final inspection is done before parts are shipped to you. At every step of the way Nelson Engineering, Inc. ensures the accuracy of your parts.

Modern Inspection Equipment

Nelson Engineering, Inc. believes in having accurate equipment to inspect your stringent part requirements. This is why we invest heavily in training and capital equipment. All tools are also traceable to NIST. Besides having an extensive list of inspection equipment Nelson Engineering, Inc. boasts a Brown & Sharpe Precision Measurement Machine (PMM). This machine is one of the five most accurate coordinate measurement machines in the western United States and one of only a handful in the world. It repeats within .00002" at 3" and .00016" at 59" and can measure every conceivable aspect of any part, gear or assembly.

Fellows 12H Lead Measuring Instrument with electronic instrumentation measurement to .00002 inch (5 micro meters) division. Measures lead variation or helix angle on parallel axis gears. Provides extremely accurate means for checking and recording lead profile variations on internal and external spur and helical gears. This machine is versatile in that it can be used to measure modified forms such as gears with crowned or tapered teeth.

Fellows 12M Involute Measuring Instrument with electronic instrumentation measurement to .00002 inch (5 micro meters) division. This gear checker measures deviation in gear tooth profile from true involute, recording both the magnitude and location of error or variation with extreme accuracy. Exceptionally versatile, this instrument will check internal or external spur or helical gears. In addition to checking errors in tooth form, they also check and record the location and magnitude of tooth modification such as tip relief, undercut, and fillet variations.
